Overview

Once a blend of Carinyena and Garnatxa, with the 2021 vintage, Negre de Montsant is now 100% Garnatxa from organically farmed grapes grown on sandy clay soils. It is fermented by indigenous yeasts, whole-cluster, in stainless steel tanks for ten days before pressing to finish fermenting in tank. Like Brisat, Negre de Montsant emphasizes fruit and terruño rather than Tatajana’s winemaking hand, resulting in a pale Garnatxa redolent with mixed red and black-fruit flavors, ethereal aromas of angelica, spice, and fresh herbs one typically finds in Garnatxa at heftier prices.
