If you were to map the DNA of European Cellars, one of its building blocks would be the ancient slate soils of the Priorat and the talented winemakers that inhabit it. They have faced these hard soils and the challenging climate to create uniquely expressive wines that have gone from obscurity to world renown in the last three decades.

Aware that many of the benchmark wines from the Priorat were out of reach for most wine drinkers due to scarcity and price, Eric Solomon created Black Slate over 20 years ago as a collaboration with four estates that he admired. Jordi Vidal of @laconreriascaladei , Joan Sangenís of @cellercalpla , Damia del Castillo of @_masalta , and August Vicent of @cellercecilio

The goal with Black Slate has always been to showcase something unique in the relationship between the winemaker and their home. Perhaps it would have been easier to make just one Black Slate wine, but where's the fun in that? Which is your favorite?
