For generations, the family of Nuria Altés has cultivated vines in the vicinity of the village of Batea in Terra Alta. Because of this history, they have formed strong relationships in the community and have convinced many of their neighbors to convert to organic farming. The Garnatxa Negra at Herència Altes is sourced from these organically farmed vines in the villages of Batea, Gandesa, Corbera, and Bot on soils that range from sand to chalky clay with the preponderance being the classic soil of the region known as Panal – a fine, sandy, clay low in nutrients and high in decomposed limestone. 100,000 bottles produced in an average vintage.
