Overview

L’Aurore is a one-off cuvée made in 2017 after frosts devastated Damien’s vineyards. Faced with scrapping the entire vintage in the aftermath, the coming month proved the resilience of Damien’s older vines and disparate vineyard blocks that span the distance from the Moulin de Beaupréau to the Moulin de la Petite Roche. So, while his usual lineup couldn’t be made, there was sufficient fruit for a singular cuvée, with most of the fruit coming from Le Genêts. Given the fitting name of L’Aurore, or The Dawn, it shows Damien’s faith, resilience, and trust in his decades-long work in Savennières.
