Overview

Pineau d’Aunis can be found throughout the Loire Valley, where it is most commonly used to make rosé. Sadly, many of these rosés are fairly sweet and beverage-like, hiding the naturally spicy, peppery, and cherry-flavored charms of this variety. Luckily for us, Jean-François Mérieau makes a deliciously dry and savory rosé of Pineau d’Aunis from vines ranging in age from 40 to 100 years old! If it weren’t so fun to drink, we’d be tempted to call it serious wine.
