The only enclosed grand cru vineyard in the entirety of Epesses, the 1.7-hectare Clos du Boux sits at the apex of an ancient landslide that formed the Calamin Grand Cru immediately below. At the edge of the Vallée de l’Enfer, a narrow stream that drains the surrounding hillsides, Clos du Boux has a southwesterly to southerly exposure midslope between the alluvial clay soils of Epesses and the deep gravelly clay soils of Calamin. At a further remove from the lake, the Chasselas from Clos du Boux has the incredible depth and rich minerality typical of Calamin but built on a lighter and fresher backbone, making this one of Switzerland’s most unique expressions of Chasselas.
