Julien Brechet’s oldest vines in Séguret are situated in what was thought to be an inauspicious site – high elevation and challenging to ripen fully. Luckily, these 100-year-old vines of half Cinsault and half Grenache survived as they showcase a lively, serious, fresh, and robust style of Séguret that one normally finds. In fact, if tasted blind, you’d think you were drinking one of his single parcel Gigondas, which is precisely why it is treated in the cellar with the same care as these more “auspicious” wines.
