While it would be tempting to view Romain Roche’s three cuvées in a Burgundian context of Village, Premier and Grand Cru such is not the case. The Côtes-du-Rhône is a blend of fruit from that doesn’t quite fit in with the final blend of the Cairanne. In most vintages it is a tremendous value as it benefits from a fair amount of old-vine Grenache and Carignan. Ready out of the gate, it is a lighter-bodied wine with wonderful floral aromatics characteristic of wines aged in tank.
