Overview

Negramoll is a grape variety that originated in Andalucía as Mollar, where it is nearly extinct, but it lives on in the Canary Islands as Negramoll, in Madeira as Tinta Negra Mole and South America under its original name, Mollar. Negramoll means “black-soft” in reference to its color and softness of the berries and resultant wines made from them which have a delicate, aromatic quality. Victoria Torres sources here Negramoll from four sites on La Palma all on various sandy, volcanic soils. The vines are ungrafted and range in age from 30–120 years old.
